This website discusses the military and phaleristic history of the Kurfürstentum Hessen (since 1803) and its predecessor, the Landgrafschaft Hessen(-Cassel).
As the 'hessians' in the American War of Indepence (from now: AWI) get enough attention as it is, the focus of this website will be on hessian(-cassel) troops in the Wars of the Coalition (1792-1815).
In time there will be several documents concerning the units (Einheiten) of the (kur)hessian army, the various campaigns (Feldzüge) and mobilizations the army was involved in and finally the individual officers.
The site will have bilingual content both in German and English. Sources are in German, analyses will be predominantly in English.
